About this policy
MARQUE is a college-essay coaching service operated by Scarlet Margin LLC. This policy explains how we handle information when you use MARQUE at themarqued.com, including its DOYEN AI coach. Contact us at madisonxalexandra@gmail.com with privacy questions or requests, using the subject “MARQUE privacy.”
The separate Scarlet Margin coaching platform and third-party websites have their own policies.
Information we collect
Account information. We collect your name, email address, authentication identifier, and account preferences. Clerk provides authentication. If you choose Google sign-in, we receive basic identity information, such as your name, email address, profile image if supplied, and Google account identifier. We use this information to create, authenticate, and maintain your MARQUE account. Google sign-in does not authorize MARQUE to read your Gmail, Google Drive, or Google Calendar.
Coaching information. We collect information you enter into the service: onboarding answers, coaching preferences, school names, application details, deadlines, essay prompts, conversations, drafts and revisions, highlights, flags, and optional resume text. We also store progress, session history, and generated summaries and recaps.
Payment and appointment information. We store customer and subscription identifiers, plan and subscription status, payment references, and consultation records. Stripe processes payment details; MARQUE does not store full payment-card numbers. If you book a consultation, scheduling providers process your contact and appointment details.
Usage and technical information. We record service activity, timestamps, AI model and token usage, and diagnostic information to operate, troubleshoot, and secure the service. Our hosting and authentication providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, cookies, and operational logs.
Communications. We receive information you send when requesting support or exercising privacy rights.
Essay content can reveal sensitive information. Share only what you need for coaching, and avoid government identifiers, financial-account details, or unnecessary private information about other people.
How we use information
We use information to provide accounts and authentication; personalize coaching; save and retrieve your work; generate responses, summaries, and suggested replies; manage billing; coordinate consultations; deliver requested drafts, recaps, and reminders; respond to requests; understand usage and costs; investigate problems and misuse; and meet legal obligations.
DOYEN is an AI system, not a human counselor or emergency service. Conversations and flags are not continuously monitored by a person. A flag or suggestion to seek human assistance does not guarantee review or intervention.
AI processing and student work
We send relevant coaching information to Anthropic's commercial API to generate responses. Depending on the feature, this can include messages, conversation history and summaries, onboarding information, essay details, resume text or summaries, and selected draft passages. We store generated responses and summaries to support your coaching experience.
Anthropic processes information under its commercial terms and applicable data policies. Provider retention can include exceptions for safety, legal requirements, and contractual arrangements; MARQUE does not promise immediate deletion or zero retention at every provider.
We use student content to deliver coaching and address support, security, and service problems. These uses do not authorize us to publish your essays, use them in marketing, or contribute them to a general-purpose model-training dataset. We would seek separate permission before using identifiable student work for those purposes.
Who receives information
We share information needed for the relevant service with:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Clerk and, if selected, Google | Account authentication and identity |
| Supabase | Storage of account and coaching records |
| Anthropic | AI responses and summaries |
| Vercel | Website hosting, application execution, and operational logs |
| Stripe | Payments, subscriptions, and billing management |
| Resend | Delivery of requested and configured emails |
| Calendly and Google Meet | Optional consultation scheduling and meetings |
Authorized personnel may access information as needed to provide support, deliver a consultation you request, maintain the service, or investigate security and operational issues. Service providers may also process information under their own policies.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the business, subject to applicable protections and notice requirements. Google account information is used for the account and service purposes described here, not to build advertising profiles.
Cookies, storage, and email
Authentication and hosting providers use cookies or similar technologies to operate and secure the service. MARQUE uses browser storage for interface preferences, such as dismissing a consultation notice. Your browser can restrict cookies and storage, but doing so may prevent sign-in or other features from working.
You can manage available coaching reminders in Notifications. Requested emails and essential account or billing communications may still be sent. Emailing a draft or recap creates copies with the delivery provider and in the recipient's mailbox; deleting it from MARQUE does not recall those copies.
Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide your account and coaching history and for legitimate security, dispute-resolution, and recordkeeping purposes. Retention depends on the type of information, whether your account is active, legal obligations, and provider backup and deletion processes. We do not promise automatic deletion after a fixed period of inactivity.
Contact madisonxalexandra@gmail.com to request access, correction, export, or deletion. We may verify your identity before acting. We will respond as required by applicable law and explain any information we must retain or requests we cannot fulfill. Backup copies and provider records may take additional time to expire or may be retained where legally required.
Deleting a login is not by itself a request to cancel a paid subscription or erase every service record. Contact us if you want both cancellation and deletion so those requests can be handled together.
Young users
MARQUE is intended for people age 13 and older. Users who have not reached the age of legal adulthood where they live must have a parent or guardian's permission to use the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.
Security, location, and your rights
We use access controls and service-provider security features to protect information, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, whose laws may differ from those in your location.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise applicable rights or ask about our response. We will not deny rights available under applicable law because this policy does not list a particular jurisdiction.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. The published version will identify its update date, and we will provide additional notice where required.
